YOFAFO aims at empowering the communities to be self-sustaining. We give them loans to start up small businesses YOFAFO has a program that caters for the elderly

YOFAFO aims at empowring women to be selfreliant. We teach them how to make beads and weavings which we sell abroad.

Self-Sustainability and Microcredit Program

In this program YOFAFO gives startup loans to different women in groups of five(5). This has so far been done in one of our centres based in a village called Bulimajji. The loans range from $50.00 to $500.00 per group.

These loans are geared towards helping the women to become self-sufficient and to boost their incomes.

The businesses that these women are involved in include, among others; Tailoring, Small Scale Groceries (Retail shops), Selling second hand clothes, Selling of Chacoal(used for cooking), raising Poultry and Animal Husbandry.

A Woman may decide to buy a calf out of the loan she has acquired. The cow is given to a bull so that it will be able to give birth to more cows. Inturn, the cow will produce milk which the woman can use to feed her babies, and to also sell off some to supplement on her income. With the new born calfes, and the milk being produced, that is the start of a farm....

Those who choose to do tailoring, we get them a trainer who will teach them professional tailoring. At the end of their training, the women are given sewing machines. As YOFAFO, we are seeing many women's lives being changed and if a woman's life is changed then the family will change. Then can she be able to look after her family.

A woman may decide to buy a cow from the loan she has aqcuired. Other women decide to use their money to buy a sewing machine. Teaching Women groups tailoring skills A women development group

For something different like a present to give during festive seasons, why not purchase a set of farm tools or a fresian cow for an unprivilaged family in Uganda?

Beads, Crafts, and Weavings

Africans are known to be naturally skilled in Crafts, Weavings and Art. At YOFAFO, we boost this skill by teaching our Women groups how to make Beads from recycled paper. Instead of throwing away the papers from calenders, posters, magazines, we equip these Women on how they can get something good out of those papers. Since the biggest number of women are into beauty and jewelery, these women love what they do because they too put on the same beads to match with their clothes. That means that they will not have spend money buying jewelery when they can make it themselves. Inturn, these beads, crafts and weavings are sold by our donors and partners abroad .

Apart from Beads, these women do Baskets, Mats, Bracelets, Anklelets, Bangles, Earings, Bags, plus other women asortments.

We teach our women groups to make beads out of paper Our Women Groups also makes bags YOFAFO Women groups also make Baskets They also make bracelets
